Atlanta's tennis scene is serious and the outdoor season is long — but summer humidity and year-round afternoon thunderstorms mean that knowing the morning conditions is critical. A 7 AM check on Atlanta courts is different from checking at noon: the weather, the air, and the court surface can all be completely different by midday.

Excellent conditions, rainy midweeks
March through May brings some of Atlanta's finest mornings — 55–72°F, low humidity, light wind. The downside is spring is also Atlanta's rainiest season. Overnight systems can dump an inch or more, and clay courts at many Atlanta parks take time to dry. Hard courts bounce back faster. Check the night-before rainfall.
7 AM is cool enough; 9 AM is not
June through August, Atlanta humidity is relentless. The 7 AM hour is typically 74–82°F with dew points that make feels-like temperatures higher. By 10 AM, conditions are genuinely draining. Afternoon thunderstorms are nearly daily in July and August — rarely an issue for morning play, but overnight storms can saturate courts.
Atlanta's best kept tennis secret
September through November is when Atlanta players shine. The humidity breaks in mid-September, October mornings sit in the upper 50s to low 70s, and November is often still comfortable. Rain is less frequent and shorter. Fall is the most consistent stretch of the year for playable mornings.
Mild but inconsistent
December through February is milder than most of the country — morning temps in the 38–55°F range — but Atlanta gets more winter precipitation than people expect. Ice events are rare but impactful since the city is ill-equipped to handle them. Several days per winter will be flagged not playable due to cold or wet conditions.
